About Shaykh Alauddin ElBakri

Shaykh Alauddin Elbakri is an Islamic scholar, speaker, and thinker. He was born to Palestinian parents and his grandfather, Shaykh Yaseen Elbakri, was the Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque for 30 years.

He started his journey of learning Islamic knowledge in his high school in Jordan and he pursued a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Islamic and International Law & History. Shaykh Alauddin studied with numerous scholars in Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan, receiving ijazahs in the fields of Quran, Hadith, and Sirah. He came to the US in 1996 as an Imam and has since worked with Muslim communities and established several Islamic organizations and institutions . To mention a few:

In 1997, he was a founding member of IMAN - The Inner-City Muslim Action Network in Chicago, a community organization that fosters health, wellness and healing in the inner-city. In 2007 He cofounded "My Deen" in Fresno California, an American Islamic community that develops and empowers Muslim youth. Today "My Deen" is the largest youth center in California. In 2016, he cofounded Support Life Foundation with his brother Salah Eddin Elbakri in Oakland CA, a charity organization that aims at solving food and job security.

In 2018 he founded Tawasaw Institute, an Islamic organization aimed at empowering Muslim youth and communities with education, mentorship, leadership training and spiritual growth.

Shaykh ElBakri’s passion is to bring Muslims together around learning and serving.
